Last Minute Knitted "Bibs"

I'm way way way behind on my blogging these day... The blocked internet access (to all blog servers, and even flickr) from Beijing is to blame... But the good thing is, I have more time to knit... Haven't I told you that both Baby Apricot and Claude are done now, and I finished another Ribbed Top out of some Classic Elite Cotton/Silk last week... please bear with me for a bit... I'm hoping for some photos this weekend. Well, right now, I have only got these to show off to you:

Last Minute Knitted "Bibs"

Pattern: Based upon the Bibs O' Love from Mason Dixon
For: Baby Mitchell on his first Birthday

Garter St Version: 36sts (7" wide x 11.5" long)
Cables/Seed St Version: 37sts (7" x 11" long)

Yarn: Worsted Cotton in Mustard and Chocolate. Both from China
Needles: 4.5mm

* * *

Garter Rib Version: 41sts (7" x 10" long)

Yarn: The cotton in cream with beige spots is previously my Apricot Jacket, scored from the Yarn Stall in Causeway Bay.
Needles: 4.0mm

I've never thought I would love making these, but I really really do. But whilst I have enjoyed the stitch variations, nothing beats the pefect fit of the original garter stitch version. Those extended straps on the Ribbed and Cabled ones are simply last minute additions cos they didn't lay flat on the baby in the first place... I have already ripped back a few rows before I started the L-shaped and still I think these turned out long-ish... by about an inch or maybe two.

I love to knit these bibs when I'm between larger projects. I love yours, especially the one with the cables! I also like that you didn't use "baby" colors.

I just found your blog and loved looking through your projects. I'm really intrigued by this baby apricot jacket--can't wait to see and read about it!

They're so wonderful! I have a new grandson and this makes me want to wip up a few more. I especially love the cable/seed bib. I used the same M/D pattern and threw in a mosaic pattern, but the cables are a real winner.
